Personal profile

Jasper Smits received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from The University of Texas at Austin and completed a clinical internship at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital. He was on the faculty in the Department of Psychology at Southern Methodist University for nine years before joining the Department of Psychology at UT Austin in 2013. The main objective of his research program is to improve the treatment of anxiety disorders (e.g., social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder) and related problems (e.g., smoking, overeating, physical inactivity). Using a translational research approach, studies in his laboratory aim to (1) identify targets for intervention; (2) develop and pilot test novel therapeutic strategies; and (3) examine the efficacy of promising behavioral and integrative treatments in clinical trials.

Fingerprint Fingerprint is based on mining the text of the experts' scientific documents to create an index of weighted terms, which defines the key subjects of each individual researcher.
