Dr. Julie Alonso-Katzowitz attended Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia where she graduated with her bachelor's degree in neuroscience and behavioral biology and a minor in Spanish. She earned her medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Alonso-Katowitz completed a five-year residency and fellowship in pediatrics, psychiatry and child psychiatry at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. While at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, she served as Chief Resident. She also completed a fellowship in forensic psychiatry at Emory University.

Dr. Alonso Katzowitz holds appointments as Assistant Professor University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Clinical Assistant Professor Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine and Clinical Assistant Professor University of Texas Medical Branch.Her areas of interest include: child and adolescent forensic mental health, child development and attachment, child abuse and neglect, child and adolescent psychiatric treatment, childhood obesity, preventative medicine, quality improvement and medical ethics.

Dr. Alonso-Katzowitz is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is board-eligible in child and adolescent psychiatry and forensic psychiatry.
